September 2010 - Newsletter “September - The GEOS Insider”

Welcome to our September newsletter. San Francisco’s warm September weather is perfect for festivals! The J-Pop Summit Festival in Japan Town celebrates Japanese pop culture, artists and musicians while promoting cross cultural exchange. At the end of the month, Festa Coloniale Italiana recognizes the rich Italian and Italian-American heritage that has existed in San Francisco for generations. The Polk Street Blues Festival will feature two main stages, a merchant marketplace, arts and crafts, gourmet food and live blues from professional musicians. San Francisco is proud of its diversity, which is also reflected in the GEOS student body!

September is San Francisco’s warmest month! It’s a great time for students to visit attractions like the murals in the Mission District, Japantown, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Ghiradelli Square, Fisherman’s Wharf and Lombard Street.
A column where we ask YOU, our GEOS San Francisco students, your thoughts and opinions. This month’s question, in honor of the Bay Area’s many upcoming fall concerts is:

If you could see any band or person live in concert, who would you see and why?

Currently we have 10 Nationalities represented in the school among our 47 students.

Germany: 2.12%
Japan: 21.27%
Saudi Arabia: 21.27%
Spain: 6.38%
Brazil: 2.12%
Korea: 21.27%
Italy: 4.25%
Turkey:6.38%
Thailand: 12.76%
Moldova: 2.12%

What I like about GEOS is the passionate teachers and students. GEOS provided me with a small class so I could get involved in my studies, but they also have fun extra-curricular activties too. My most memorable moment at GEOS was our trip to Silicon Valley becaue I experienced something different that I’ve never done before. San Francisco is also a good place to study ESL because of its good public transportation and the city has lots of beautiful places to visit, like the Golden Gate Bridge. One word to describe GEOS is ‘fabulous’ and there is no doubt that I would recommend GEOS San Francisco more than other schools because of the small classes and passionate teachers and students. My advice to other students: the most important thing is effort and speak only English!
