This month, we had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful holiday group from the Ukraine. During their two weeks spent in San Francisco, we made sure to show them a great time! Together we visited Lombard Street, Ghiradelli Square, Coit Tower, The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Chinatown and Haight Ashbury.
In honor of the New Year, this month’s question is:
What are your goals for 2011?

“Hello, my name is Bilal and I am from Belgium. About GEOS: the teachers are very competent. They have a real willingness to do better. I will remember jokes during the class, with the teachers and the students. I liked San Francisco because it is clean. I will miss the views, the beach, the Golden Gate Bridge. There are a lot of things to do here. My favorite neighborhood was downtown San Francisco because it is close to everything. If I had to describe GEOS in one word, it would be “productivity.” For me productivity is the staff asking the students if everything is OK, asking if you want something else. There was a real willingness to help the students. I will miss the most my GEOS friends and Asian food. My advice to other students is to come here for a long time. 4 weeks was too short.”

January is a great month to visit San Francisco. It is the low season for tourism, so it’s easier to go see popular attractions without the crowds. The coastal weather is warm and mild, sometimes even better than a foggy July! Our Ukrainian GEOS students were excited to see trees blossoming in January. In their hometown of Kiev the temperature was 20 below zero!
